Throwback Thursday: I miss my scarf! I learned to knit first, so I made plenty of scarves but this one was special. Not only did it match my favorite hoodie (hoodie fanatic) but I had made it shortly after I lost my first son. I wanted to do something quiet with my time that I'd thoroughly enjoy. Arts and crafts were always a sure thing I could spend hours pouring my heart into, that would always put me into a giddy mood. Well, about a year and some change later this chubby cheek guy came along and I made him into a Lovey baby (I know, bad girl). So, one evening as I was was dropping him off to his father's house for the weekend, we realized that I had forgotten the Lovey back at my house. I gave him my scarf to subdue him until he returned to me. My baby grabbed it without hesitation, buried his face into it and bid me farewell. 8 years later, I haven't seen my scarf since and never gathered the nerve to ask what happened to it. It served its purpose, I suppose.
It definitely isn't easy letting go of things that we've become attached to, things that we think we need. Time reveals growth, growth is imperative for our livelihood. Please embrace Growth.
P.s. my son (which is now nine) has stored his Lovey away. He doesn't even sleep with it! He simply said,
"I just don't need it anymore."
*real tears, He's growing up so fast, I'm so proud.
