Salutations,
The first day of Spring brought me several gifts: warm weather which provoked me to sit out in the sunlight and execute some much needed mind mapping, beautiful flower baring colors that I adore so much, and inspiration! Yes, with the transition into the next season my senses had fine tuned themselves to pick up the right amount of frequency I needed to put a plan into motion. I couldn't get to the craft store fast enough.
Although I didn't catch a sale, I was able to pick up a brand of yarn I had been eyeballing for some time. I grabbed eight skeins and made a dash for checkout before spending another 30 minutes of indecisive color planning.
So, for preliminary projects, I like to keep costs and quantity light. I opted for Crafter's Secret Yarn in cotton. It's a 4-ply sport weight that feels and works up synonymous to Lily's Sugar and Cream with the exception of offering more color selections that are more richer in my opinion. Sure, there are some that match up exactly the same, but I don't have to run from one store to the next to get them since Crafter's Secret is Hobby Lobby's own store brand! More tints and shades of hues, neutrals, and variegated skeins for the same price and ounce. (Although if you opt to get LS&C in Hobby Lobby instead of WalMart, you will be getting a larger skein, .11 grams more, I suppose).
I was feeling inspired by childhood memories in Fort Ord, Monterey Co: My first bike on my fifth birthday, family trips to the beach, and I ended up with this lovely doll!
As pleased as I am with the finished product and working with cotton yarn, I feel that we will soon have to part ways for until Fall, only for what I've concluded from my mind map. Check back later for my breakup update.
Love,
Elle
