I See Them Everywhere...Overalls Are Back!!!

So, in my spare time I love to follow some of the fashion blogs on Google+. I've discovered that overalls and shortalls are back! Makes me sad that I never saved a pair from my teen years. I was big on them, loved a good pair of Union Bay overalls. I think they're simply adorable on babies as well so, I had to whip up a pair. I did the usual, surfed a few images, checked out a few online shops and seen a few that were cute. I didn't come across a pattern but, I figured it'll be pretty easy to transition the pants I'd recently completed by adding the front pouch (I guess I'll call it that), straps and buttons. Pretty simple, huh? It was. I think that maybe I'll add a front pocket and an applique, maybe a baseball or a football. I like to create outfits, so I have a little time to think about what I would like to center it's theme around, but here is my result:

The length measures right at 21 inches and the waist is at 16 inches. It's safe to say that these measurements are suitable for a baby at 3 months. If you were to make a pair as a gift, get the measurements of the infant first.  If you've shopped for a baby or have children, you know that sizing measurements aren't definite. My son was 21 inches at birth, but he was so frail! I remember hunting for all the preemie sizes I could get my hands on, wishing I hadn't. He didn't grow out of that size until he'd gotten about four to six months.  He'd be swimming in these overalls.  I wish I'd learned to crochet sooner. That scenario would have been the perfect time to put my skills to work!
